In South Korea alone, over 300,000 tons of untreated oyster shell waste are generated annually. By leveraging this discarded resource, we have successfully developed OXP (Oyster X-linked Polymer)—a revolutionary fireproof bioplastic alternative.
OXP-FR is compounded with eco-friendly inorganic flame retardants.
Overcoming Global Flame Retardant Supply Risks and Performance Bottlenecks
Recently, global market prices for antimony have skyrocketed due to its strategic material classification. Simultaneously, China’s export restrictions on red phosphorus have driven up the costs of phosphorus-based flame retardants.
While mineral-based flame retardants like ATH (Aluminum Trihydrate) and MDH (Magnesium Hydroxide) are non-toxic and environmentally friendly, achieving flame retardancy typically requires heavy loading—which degrades the mechanical properties of the base polymer.
Our proprietary technology solves this trade-off. As demonstrated in our eco-friendly fishing buoy projects, our core platform (Terrafin) seamlessly cross-links inorganic fillers—such as wood powder, charcoal, and calcium carbonate—into high-molecular polymers without compromising mechanical strength.
By combining common inorganic flame retardants with recycled oyster shells, we deliver exceptional flame-retardant performance with superior cost efficiency.
Zero Toxic Fumes, 100% Hazardous-Substance Free
Unlike conventional flame-retardant plastics that release dangerous toxic fumes when burned, OXP contains zero phosphorus, bromine, or antimony. Our testing is conducted in open environments without gas masks, proving its non-toxic nature. Furthermore, OXP is completely free of heavy metals, endocrine disruptors (environmental hormones), and plasticizers.
Exceptional UL94 5VA Flame Retardancy
Standard electrical components—such as switches, power strips, and chargers—require a UL94 V-0 rating. Fireproof OXP achieves the highest UL94 5VA rating at a thin 1 mm specimen threshold.
(Note: Test results were obtained directly by our client on finished products, as flame ratings apply to complete molded parts at their thinnest cross-section, rather than raw pellet form. Official certificates remain confidential.)
Extreme Heat Resistance & Thermal Insulation
During flame tests, the inner flame tip reaches temperatures between 1,300°C and 1,500°C. As shown in our test video on a product, the flame extinguishes immediately upon removing the burner.
Even under prolonged extreme heat exposure, the structural integrity of the part remains intact. The crater-like texture formed on the surface is a result of natural foaming from the calcium carbonate in the oyster shells and the inorganic retardants. This foam layer acts as an advanced thermal barrier, making OXP an extraordinarily safe choice for building and construction applications.
Processing Characteristics & Flowability
Standard Melt Flow Rate (MFR) tests do not accurately measure OXP or CXP flowability because our technology does not simply 'melt' biomass in a conventional manner. However, Spiral Injection Testing confirms excellent melt flow and processability during actual molding.
